A first for Den Helder: the first electric Den Helder was launched on the beach at Duinoord on Friday
\nBeach wheelchair put into use. The wheelchair will be available at Beachclub Citadel until the end of September and
\nis available upon reservation. After September, the three-month trial period will be reviewed
\nwill be continued. The arrival of the electric wheelchair is made possible by a collaboration
\nbetween the municipality, the Noordkop Beach Exploitation Foundation (SSN) and Beach Club Citadel.
\nThe festive opening took place under the watchful eye of Alderman for Inclusion Tessa Augustijn,
\nSSN beach manager Eric den Boer and Jan and Margreet Dronkers, the owners of Beachclub
\nCitadel.<\/p>\n
Beach more accessible<\/p>\n
Councillor Augustijn is pleased with the milestone: \u201cWith the introduction of this electric beach wheelchair,
\nWe make the beach even more accessible for everyone. We hope that this trial period will be successful.
\nprogresses and that we can offer more of these wheelchairs in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Great step forward<\/p>\n
Eric den Boer of SSN emphasizes the importance of the electric beach wheelchair: \u201cThis is a great step
\nprogress in making our beautiful beaches accessible to everyone. We are curious about the
\nuser experiences and are open to feedback to further improve this service.\u201d
\nIf the electric beach wheelchair unexpectedly breaks down and needs to be retrieved, the SSN will arrange this.<\/p>\n
A day at the beach for everyone<\/p>\n
Beachclub Citadel manages and stores wheelchairs. Citadel also handles reservations.
\nThe electric beach wheelchair can be reserved by telephone on 0223-621143 and is
\nAvailable during the beach club's opening hours. Owners Jan and Margreet Dronkers explain
\nwhy they like to participate in the initiative: "At Citadel we think it is important that everyone can enjoy a

Extra convenience<\/p>\n
The Citadel already had a push beach wheelchair in use. The electric version will replace it.
