That is why we captured her poems on video, so that they can still be heard later in the city where they were written.<\/p>\n<p>With this poem, we kick off a short series with city poet Yanaika Zomer. An ode to living with the wind.<\/p>\n<p>__________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><h3>He who does not blow, does not wind<\/h3>\n<p>I only learned how fast I could cycle<br \/>\nin a student city, spring had opened my coat<br \/>\nand drove the cold from the air.<br \/>\nFor a brief moment I had wondered if I in first gear<br \/>\nor two sat, the bike path had just been asphalted<br \/>\nor that the people here were just driving slowly.<br \/>\nBut I had my hometown on my feet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The third adjustment, an incline test,<br \/>\neven on flat roads. Headwind is the starting point,<br \/>\nIf you can go faster, you\u2019ll have her in your side once by grace.<br \/>\nShe belongs here. I had almost taken her for granted.<br \/>\nand even ostracized on the Langevliet.<br \/>\nI didn&#039;t yet know how directionless<br \/>\nI would be without her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Always full on the pedals,<br \/>\nYou can shield a woman from the wind,<br \/>\nbut the wind not out of her hair.<br \/>\nGive me a counterweight, a balance.<br \/>\nAir, a sigh where sun hours<br \/>\nand the days drag on until Jaap takes over.<br \/>\nI feel displaced as soon as she lies down,<br \/>\na cyclist in the middle of nowhere and much too far from home.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yanaika draagt binnenkort het stokje over als stadsdichter.
