There is a fascinating phenomenon <\/span>that occurs in almost every Dutch <\/span>municipality plays. It is the cycle <\/span>from the gut: an instinctive, <\/span>almost ritual reflex to every new <\/span>development in the city or neighborhood.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n As soon as a plan is presented<\/span>tarred \u2013 an apartment complex, <\/span>a coffee shop, a town hall, a <\/span>trendy cargo bike bridge \u2013 here it begins. <\/span>The guts are growling. <\/span>\u201cIt doesn't fit in with the streetscape!, <\/span>shouts someone who that street scene <\/span>wants to keep unchanged since 1955. <\/span>\u201cWhere should we park?\u201d asks <\/span>another. \u201cCan I still get my dog out there <\/span>"Should I take it out for a walk?" And then the classic: <\/span>\u201cIt will probably amount to nothing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n People gather in small rooms with <\/span>coffee in cardboard cups and a <\/span>PowerPoint that never works. The atmosphere is <\/span>involved, but also slightly threatening. <\/span>Petitions are being started, angry <\/span>letters sent, neighborhood apps <\/span>to explode with indignation. <\/span>Gut feelings rule, rational <\/span>arguments are drowned out by <\/span>feelings of loss, nostalgia and <\/span>fear of change.<\/span><\/p>\n And then\u2026 Suddenly it is there, that little park, <\/span>The little neighborhood, that bridge. The sun is shining. <\/span>on it, children playing there, the neighborhood cat <\/span>has a new favorite spot. <\/span>The world has not ended. In fact, <\/span>The neighborhood even looks a bit like it. <\/span>to snap. And remarkably enough \u2013 <\/span>It becomes quiet. No one who still <\/span>shouts that the view is ruined. <\/span>The petition page has long been forgotten.<\/span><\/p>\n A striking example is the arrival of <\/span>the hospice in Nieuw Den Helder. <\/span>When the plan became known, it was <\/span>The neighborhood in an uproar.
