Fort Erfprins is an impressive 19th-century defensive structure located on the west side of Den Helder.<\/p>\n
Special military heritage<\/strong><\/p>\n At 49 hectares, Fort Erfprins is the largest fort in the Netherlands. Built as part of Stelling Den Helder (Fortress Den Helder), the fort was declared a national monument in 1973. Today, it remains in use as a naval barracks.<\/p>\n Step back in time<\/strong><\/p>\n The atmosphere from 1810 to 1980 is still palpable here. From underground spaces to original defensive structures: the fort exudes history.<\/p>\n Guided tour<\/strong><\/p>\n Due to its active military function, the fort is only accessible during organized tours on selected Saturdays. Advance registration is required via the website. Tours are intended for visitors aged 14 and older (accompanied visitors aged 17 and older).
