At the time, it was located in the middle of a marshy area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exciting traces of the war<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During World War II, the German occupiers established an anti-aircraft battery there. This battery is still fully intact. The fort was also actively used by the army during the Cold War.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discover it yourself<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Part of the site is managed by the Stelling Den Helder Foundation. You can view the German bunkers and visit the fort on a guided tour.
