Kop van Noord-Holland contributes to sustainable tourism in the Wadden area.
The municipalities in the Kop van Noord-Holland are committed to sustainable tourism and
economic development of the Wadden area with a contribution of €75,000 in 2025 to
the 'Wadden Area Hospitality' program. This program combines
nature conservation, strengthening tourism and broad prosperity in the region.
Marketing organisation Visit Wadden implements the programme.
Councillor for Tourism Fotigui Camara signed the agreement on behalf of the Kopgemeenten
cooperation agreement and emphasizes the importance of this cooperation: “The
The Wadden Sea area is unique and vulnerable. By joining forces, we not only ensure
preserving this beautiful area, but we also strengthen its tourist and economic position
of the region in a sustainable way.”
Alderman Robert Leever of Hollands Kroon confirmed this: 'The Wadden are UNESCO
World Heritage. We should not only cherish it, but also be proud of it. With this program
We bring this special nature even more to the attention of visitors.
The programme is in line with existing initiatives, such as the Fisheries Development Plan and the
regional cooperation agenda Samen op Kop. Thanks to the expertise of Visit Wadden and local
new opportunities are being used from the Kop van Noord-Holland to make the region more attractive
for visitors, while protecting the Wadden Sea ecosystem. In 2025,
City Marketing Den Helder serves as a home base for the Visit Wadden team.
The program strengthens cooperation within the Kop van Noord-Holland and offers a solid
basis for future regional initiatives. With this contribution, the Kop van Noord-
Holland in a sustainable future for nature, tourism and the economy. It also fits well
on the still developing tourist agenda of the Kopgemeenten.
