Bicycle tour
Cycle for a Good Cause! Ride through historic Den Helder on a 30 km search & rescue bike tour and support the K.N.R.M. and the National Lifeboat Museum! In 1811, Napoleon recognized the city’s strategic value and had impressive forts and a shipyard built. This tour takes you past these historic landmarks and modern seafaring vessels. The K.N.R.M. was founded after the tragic shipwreck of De Vrede in 1824, where six rowers and three crew members lost their lives. This event led to the establishment of the K.N.R.M., which still operates thanks to volunteers and donations. The route includes stops at cozy terraces for a snack or drink. Highlights of the tour include a visit to the active lifeboat Joke Dijkstra at the Naval Base and a free entry ticket to the National Lifeboat Museum (valid for 14 days). Costs: Adults: €12.00 | Children: €7.00 Start Locations: You can register and start at Parking Noorder Sandt 1, Julianadorp or the main entrance of Willemsoord, Den Helder. All proceeds go to the K.N.R.M. and the National Lifeboat Museum. Join the ride and support today’s rescue work and the history we preserve!
