The historical tours of Fort Erfprins will tentatively resume in April and take place on the first Saturday of each month until October.
The current Fort Erfprins (formerly named “Fort Lasalle”) is an authentic defensive structure that is part of the 'Stelling van Den Helder'.
Covering approximately 49 hectares, it is the largest fort in the Netherlands, where the atmosphere of 1810-1980 can still be felt. The fort is located on the grounds of the operational naval barracks Erfprins, which remains in use as military territory and is generally closed to the public.
Interested visitors must register in advance for a tour. Registration is available via the online registration form on the website www.forterfprins.nl, where more information can also be found. Joining the tour on the day itself is unfortunately not possible. The tour accommodates a maximum of 20 participants and costs €5 per person.
The tour is accessible for visitors aged 14 and older.
Unfortunately, the fort is not suitable for individuals with limited mobility. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are required due to uneven floors and thresholds. In the underground areas, the temperature remains constant at approximately 14 degrees Celsius, so warm clothing, such as a jacket or sweater, is necessary.
Fort Erfprins is not open on Open Monument Days.
