Monuments open their doors during the national Heritage Open Days 2024!
On September 14th and 15th, 2024, the national Heritage Open Days will take place for the 38th time. Currently, Citymarketing Den Helder, acting as the committee for the municipality of Den Helder, is busy with preparations for this edition, which focuses on the theme "Heritage of Routes, Networks, and Connections."
This year, no less than 21 monuments will open their doors. From nautical to maritime heritage, from churches to fortifications: The monuments strengthen the identity of the city and are of immeasurable value, especially considering the history of Den Helder. The city has faced many disasters over the centuries, where the preservation of existing buildings was not always guaranteed. These monuments have withstood the test of time and are now opening their doors to the public. All monuments can be visited free of charge during the Heritage Open Weekend, and for some guided tours, prior registration is required.
Program
The program can be found in the "Dit is Den Helder" app. Program booklets with participating monuments are now available at the Experience Store of Citymarketing Den Helder at Spoorstraat 2. Or download it digitally here!
