TULIPA A humorous and (b)looming location performance about the tulip A theatrical ode to the Tulip as a source of beauty, labor, wealth, and madness.

TgLAVA sheds light on this seemingly simple flower.

And all of this in North Holland. On the sandy soils where the tulip grows and blooms so wonderfully. TULIPA takes place in the greenhouse, where the three sisters Marriëtta, Miranda, and Maud Appel are on the eve of the bankruptcy sale of the family business Appel, Tulips & Bulbs. The somewhat mildly hysterical and otherworldly Appel family has played an important role in the history of the Tulip since the Golden Age. With a stolen bulb from the Hortus Botanicus, the distant ancestor Appel set up a thriving business and amassed enormous wealth. The history of the family and the company runs parallel to the ups and downs of the Tulip itself.

The performance will be a mosaic of different moments from the history of the Tulip and the people who played an important role in it. All with the same dream. The dream of becoming as famous, rich, and valuable as the flower that binds them. Because if anything connects the history of the Tulip to the madness of the day in 2023, it is the hope of becoming (sleeping) rich.
