Wild Animal Expedition opened

DEN HELDER – The "Wild Animal Expedition" opened at De Helderse Vallei on Thursday, June 20th! By using an app to search for the metal animal sculptures scattered around the grounds, children can discover which animals we live with at Den Helder.

Perhaps the "Wild Animal Expedition" sounds familiar? That's probably true, as a similar activity was held at the event site during Sail 2023, called the "Wild Animal Route." Now, the animal sculptures by artist Peter Jonas are scattered across the grounds of De Helderse Vallei. During the opening, not only Peter Jonas, but also Team Sportservice and JOGG Den Helder, who were involved in this project, were present. A group of students from De Kompas primary school was eager to start exploring immediately after the official opening!
Participation is simple. All you, as a (grand)parent/guardian, have to do is download the Opstapp app—preferably at home—and select the "Wild Animal Expedition." Then you and your (grand)children can search for the nine metal animal sculptures. With fun videos and activities, you'll get a glimpse into the world of crawling, swimming, and flying neighbors. For these animals, our streets, canals, quays, and buildings are just as appealing as the wilderness: the city is nature. Once you know it, you'll see it and make surprising nature discoveries yourself!
