Medemblikker Loods

Traditional woodworking shop for classic ships in a historic shed.

At the Medemblikkerloods in Willemsoord, you can smell the wood and feel the craftsmanship. Here, they work just as they used to: by hand, with a passion for the craft.

Origin from 1833

The shed is a reconstruction of the original from the 19th century. Wood that had previously spent years in the harbor was dried here. It then served as a copper warehouse and workshop for dockworkers for years.

Now full of life again

Since 2003, the warehouse has been back at Willemsoord. It's been restored in the same style, but with modern tools. Craftsmen and volunteers restore sloops, botters, and other classic vessels there. All to preserve the Museum Harbor.

Experience it up close

You don't just see the woodwork. You feel the story. Thanks to the Wadden Fund and the Willemsoord Shipyard Foundation, this is a place where you can truly experience maritime heritage. From the instruction room to the wood storage, everything exudes tradition and the future.
