Summer at Fort Kijkduin with various activities.

Experience a magical summer holiday full of adventure at Fort Kijkduin!

During the summer holidays, Fort Kijkduin once again transforms into an enchanting fort full of adventure, history, and fun experiences. The highlight of the summer is the Magical Summer Adventure on Sunday, July 12, where the historic fort comes to life with street theatre, music, and magical figures, among other things.

Magical Summer Adventure

On Sunday, July 12, the fort transforms into a Magical Summer Adventure! On and around the fort, you will encounter special characters this day, such as a real mermaid, a singing princess, and a magical storyteller. Extras from the group Ouderwetz will create the right atmosphere with washerwomen and soldiers, and you might even cross paths with an archer or a balloon artist! You can also decorate cookies and bake bread rolls over the fire.

Theater performance Dolle Dina

De Dolle Dina is a performance about starboard, port, hoisting sails, and other nautical matters. An adventure about a girl, an enchanted ring, and two runaway pirates. Together with them, you will experience a wild sea adventure. The performance is suitable for ages 4 to 12 and anyone with a young heart. The play lasts approximately 40 minutes. Performances can be seen on Wednesday, August 5 and 12 at 11:00 and 12:30.

Feeding the sea animals

During the fish feeding presentations at the North Sea Aquarium, zookeepers tell you everything you want to know about the marine animals. Visitors can also feed the fish themselves (while supplies last) using a bag of fish food from the vending machine.

The fish feeding rounds take place daily (except Friday) at:

• 12:30 PM – Through-flow container or Wreck container

• 14:30 – Sharks or Rays

• 3:30 PM – Small animals

Guided tours of the fort

Those who wish to learn more about the centuries-long history of Fort Kijkduin can join the guided tour. During school holidays, tours depart on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:30 AM. These are free of charge for visitors to the fort.

Exhibitions

In addition, visitors can learn more about the history of the fort via the Fort Route and various exhibitions, such as the family exhibition 'A Soldier for a Day', which covers the mobilization period in the Netherlands. Here, children can experience for themselves what it was like to be a soldier and go on a journey of discovery through the fort together with their parents or grandparents.

The revamped exhibition centered on Chris the Sperm Whale tells the story of the Whalers of Huisduinen.

Fort Kijkduin is open daily during the summer holidays. For all activities, see:
