Looking for a fun outing in Den Helder? With the Logbook of Den Helder Discover the city center and Willemsoord in a surprising way. This free scavenger hunt takes children and families past special places, artworks, and maritime stories.
Using photos, participants find the next location themselves. Along the way, they answer fun questions that encourage them to look closely around them. There are no right or wrong answers: it is about discovering together, being amazed, and looking at Den Helder with fresh eyes.
The first copies of the Logbook were presented to Jessica Westerveld, director of the Dr. Jac. P. Thijsseschool. The students of groups 7 and 8 are the first to head out with the logbook.
“It is very special that our students are the first to go on a journey of discovery with the Logbook. They are going on an exploration in their own city, and I am sure they will discover many new things along the way.,” says Jessica Westerveld.
After the summer holidays, the logbooks will also be distributed to other primary schools in Den Helder. The Logbook aligns well with lessons on citizenship, heritage, and one's own living environment.
The route takes about an hour and ends at Willemsoord. Afterwards, you can pick up a free postcard of your favorite spot from the route at the tourist information point in Willemsoord. You can also participate in the photo contest with the Wervians, in which four free tickets to the Maritime Museum are raffled off every month.
It Logbook of Den Helder is available free of charge at the tourist information point at Willemsoord and from various retailers in the city center.
