The fourth edition of National Climate Week will take place from November 11 to 17, 2024. During Climate Week, Climate Mayor Friso van der Meulen, together with the municipality, will showcase the climate initiatives available.
Climate Week Program
During National Climate Week, we're organizing several inspiring activities at Den Helder. The program is below.
Nest boxes for house sparrows. The opening will take place on Monday, November 11th at 9:00 AM in the Helderse Valley by climate mayor Friso van der Meulen, alderman for sustainability Peter van Diepen, and children's mayor Jip de Jong. Following the opening, group 8 of De Rank primary school will participate in a workshop with Rejoez on painting nest boxes for house sparrows.
Get inspired and informed at FUNdament. On Wednesday, November 13th, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, various activities are being organized at FUNdament at Dintelstraat 153. You can visit the mobile showroom of the Duurzaam Bouwloket (Sustainable Building Desk). You can pop in to see all the energy-saving measures available to make your homes more sustainable step by step. Energy and heating coaches will be present to explain small and large measures that will increase comfort and save energy. You can also browse the repair café, pick an autumn bouquet, and take a look at the sewing workshop. You can also visit one of the nearby tiny houses. There you can see which climate and energy-saving measures have already been implemented. Would you like to visit the tiny house? Please register in advance via [website address missing]. www.denhelder.nl/aanmeldentinyhouse.
Free garden plant package in exchange for your tiles
On Friday, November 15th, we'll conclude Climate Week in the Helderse Valley, simultaneously with the Tile Flipping Championship. When you hand in tiles from your garden, you can receive a free garden plant package. You can register for this between November 1st and 8th via www.deheldersevallei.nl. You can return your tiles to the Helderse Vallei from November 15th to Sunday, November 17th, in exchange for a free garden plant package.
Working together for a better climate
During National Climate Week, companies, governments, and citizens will showcase their climate efforts in a variety of ways. The goal? To inspire as many Dutch people as possible to commit to reducing CO2 emissions. We're making our voices heard, too. Alderman for Sustainability Peter van Diepen: "National Climate Week helps us raise awareness of climate change. Everyone can help combat climate change as effectively as possible by taking small steps. During Climate Week, you can see what you can do to contribute."“
