Although summer is over and autumn has long since arrived, that didn't stop the participants of the first edition of the Meerwielentocht from setting out. With warm coats, they enthusiastically climbed onto their meerwielers and embarked on a wonderful adventure. Team Sportservice Noordkop, co-organizer of the event, is proud of this successful first edition and looks forward to a repeat in the future.

On Wednesday, October 2nd, the Meerwielentocht (More Wheels Tour) began early in the afternoon at the Omring location in Den Koogh, in Den Helder. A diverse group, ranging from scooter riders to tricycle riders, gathered to enjoy the fresh air and explore the most beautiful locations of Den Helder. Before the tour began, Pieter from Bikestore Den Helder performed a bike check on all participating tricycles.

Beautiful route through Den Helder "It was a great success," says Remon Schoorl of Team Sportservice Noordkop enthusiastically. "With a friendly group, we cycled just over 10 kilometers through Den Helder and saw many beautiful places along the way." The route took the participants through beautiful, wooded areas, and Lange Jaap was also included. Halfway through the ride, there was a break for exercise: "It's so important to stretch the muscles and relax." A group photo was also taken at the same time.

Closing with a cup of coffee At the end of the ride, everyone returned to the Omring location in Den Koogh. There, a delicious cup of coffee and banana bread awaited them, sponsored by Maatwerk Den Helder. The Meerwielentocht also marked the conclusion of the Week of Encounter at Den Helder. This initiative was set up by various organizations with the aim of combating loneliness in the city. "After the success of this Meerwielentocht, we hope that people will stay in touch and continue their journey together." Although the exact date of the next Meerwielentocht has not yet been set, registration is already open. You can do so by sending an email to Rina Blondeau at [email protected].
