Go back to the 70s and 80s. Back then, Henk Heesbeen played several times a week at Den Helder and the surrounding area. Many venues disappeared. The music remained. Now you get the chance to experience this illustrious duo live again.
A musical family history
The name Heesbeen has been around for almost a hundred years. The first band formed before World War II, with father Piet, uncle Co, and cousin Bram. After the war, they achieved national fame with performances in the Netherlands and Belgium. You hear music with a story.
Henk started playing the accordion at age seven. By fourteen, he was already playing in his father's trio. Over the years, the lineup changed regularly, including Doortje, Coby, Wil Strik, Gerard de Vries, Herman Lewakabessy, and Piet Visser. Several albums were also released.
Experience it live in the small hall
Henk and his son Co have formed the current Duo Heesbeen for twenty-six years. On Sunday, March 8th, they'll be in the small hall of Hotel Den Helder. The performance runs from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free. Come listen. Sing along. Enjoy familiar sounds in a warm, intimate setting.
