From Friday, February 20, to Friday, March 13, 2026, you can stroll through the outdoor exhibition "Oudroze" (Old Pink). In the city park on Prins Hendriklaan, you'll read 19 life stories from the first generation who openly came out about their sexual orientation or gender identity. Personal. Inspiring. Sometimes confronting. Here, you'll pause for a moment to reflect on courage and visibility.
Stories that touch
You'll meet gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, and intersex people. They'll share what it was like to be the first to be open. Their experiences offer insight into a time when that wasn't a given. This makes this exhibition valuable for anyone who wants to understand more.
Working together on visibility
Oudroze is an initiative within the Local Inclusion Agenda of the municipality of Den Helder. By sharing these stories, understanding and recognition for the LGBTQIA+ community grows. You'll see how openness makes a difference. And why visibility remains important today.
Come in whenever you want
The exhibition is open to the public and is free to enter. Combine your visit with a walk through the park. Bring someone along and discuss what you've read. This way, you'll contribute to a more connected city.
