Apostolisch Genootschap

Religious heritage with an active role in Helderse society

The Apostolic Society has existed in Den Helder since 1882. The current church on Sumatra Street was built in 1937 and has been a place of connection, inspiration, and meaning ever since.

Church building from the interbellum period

The church was designed by architect Tiemstra and is recognizable by its roof turret. In 1999, the building was expanded on the front and right side facades. Its location on a public garden gives the building an open and accessible feel. The church is open to the public during Open Monument Day.

Believe in connection

The community is active and involved. Weekly worship services, youth gatherings, and choir rehearsals are held. Everything revolves around mutual responsibility and care for the environment. The building is maintained by community volunteers.
