In the mast shed at Willemsoord, you'll find the Den Helder town hall. A monumental building that once belonged to the navy, now a place full of light, space, and character.
Just walk in
No appointment is necessary. Just step inside and discover the blend of old and new. The wooden support structure is still visible, as are the original elements from the naval era. And all the while, you can look out over the water.
Changing exhibitions
Inside, there's always something to see: art, photography, or local stories. The program changes regularly, so every visit is unique. The architecture is also a reason to come: a three-story atrium, modern materials, and open workspaces.
Sustainable and inspiring
The building has been thoroughly renovated for sustainability. Solar panels, thermal energy storage, and smart installations ensure a low impact. The adjacent sailmaker's workshop is even energy-neutral. Here, heritage and sustainability go hand in hand.
