Jazz Foundation Nieuw&Diep has been bringing jazz to Den Helder since 2002. The name is a nod to its predecessor 'Nat en Diep', which was active until the early 1990s.
More than twenty years of jazz history
Since the first concert at Windkracht 13, N&D has now organized more than 200 concerts. All featuring the crème de la crème of Dutch jazz and many renowned musicians from all corners of jazz planet Earth. With concerts full of improvisation, groove, and adventure, they manage to surprise time and again. From intimate to explosive.
In 2017, a commemorative book was published to mark the 15th anniversary, and in 2019, she organized a small two-day jazz festival. Jutter Jazz Fest with professional local and regional jazz artists. On May 29, 2022, the foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festival. Jazz At The Dockyard at the old Willemsoord naval shipyard. On June 9, 2024, the 2nd edition of followed. Jazz club in De Kampanje
After the closure of Galerie Windkracht 13, the foundation found a home in Theater De Kampanje in 2020. There, they set up their own Jazz Club for every concert: an atmospheric venue where you sit close to the musicians. The small listening concerts take place in the Small Hall in a club setting, while the larger, swinging concerts take place in the City Hall, also in a club setting with opportunities to dance.
