Fancy singing and having a good time? La Mer is a mixed choir with around 40 members from Den Helder and Julianadorp. Their repertoire consists of light music, sung in three- or four-part harmony, and backed by piano and drums.
From Abba to Baudouin
La Mer sings well-known songs in Dutch and English, such as "Puppet on a String," an Abba medley, "California Dreaming," and "Evening." Each song receives a fresh interpretation under the direction of conductor Paul van Venrooij. Pianist Frank Visser and drummer Adrie Hoogeterp provide rhythm and atmosphere.
Social and musical
Rehearsals are serious, but also social. There's time for coffee or tea between singing sessions. New members quickly feel at home, and everyone is welcome to come and watch.
Rehearsal in Triade
La Mer rehearses every Thursday evening from 7:45 PM to 9:45 PM at the Triade Huis der Kunsten. This does not take place during school holidays. The venue is accessible and has an elevator.
