Your route begins at Camping 't Noorder Sandt and takes you through the beautiful surroundings of Julianadorp. The first section takes you past expansive bulb fields that are in full bloom in spring. Did you know that Julianadorp was named after Princess Juliana in 1909? Previously called Loopuyt, the hamlet was renamed in honor of her birth.
The Groote Kaap: a beacon by the sea
Near junction 1, you'll pass De Groote Kaap lighthouse. The original tower was built in 1966, but replaced in 1985 by the current steel version, nearly seventeen meters tall. This striking beacon is still used to guide waterway traffic.
Walk through the dunes and enjoy the view
The final kilometers of the route take you through the sheltered dunes. You'll stroll along the footpath in the lee, enjoying panoramic views of the polder and the North Sea from the occasional dunetop. A varied walk where you'll experience nature, history, and the maritime character of Julianadorp.
