Cycling along dunes, forest and sea
From Julianadorp, you'll cycle back to Den Helder via a varied route. You'll ride through tranquil dunes and lush forests. In April and May, you'll admire the colorful bulb fields that transform this area into a fairytale. Along the way, you'll also pass through the Mariëndal nature reserve, where you can spot birds and other wildlife. Visit Fort Kijkduin: history by the sea
A must-see is Fort Kijkduin in Huisduinen, near Den Helder. This impressive fort, dating from 1811, was built by order of Napoleon Bonaparte. Craftsmen and even Spanish prisoners of war worked on this masterpiece. Although parts of the defenses have disappeared over the years, much of the fort remains. The fort exudes history and offers a unique glimpse into the past. Be sure to take the time to explore.
