Are you a resident of the municipality of Den Helder and will you turn 18 between September 1, 2024 and December 31?
2025, then you will receive a birthday package: a year's free library membership.
Young people who turn 18 and who are already members of the library automatically receive an additional year
free membership, in which they can use all the facilities and services of the library.
Young people who are not yet members can register for this at one of the libraries in Den Helder
free membership.
This action is made possible by money from a support fund that was set up during the corona period to
Helderse to support the cultural sector. The KopGroep Bibliotheken Foundation and the municipality of Den Helder are working
together to encourage our eighteen-year-olds to make the most of all the possibilities the library has to offer.
Encourage
Councillor Fotigui Camara of Culture is pleased with this action: ”Reading is for the mind what exercise is for the
body. With this gift we want to encourage young people to keep reading and continue to develop themselves. A
Library membership opens the door to a world full of knowledge, stories and possibilities.”
E-books and audiobooks
The KopGroep Bibliotheken is very happy with this gift for young people from the Den Helder municipality. “As a member you can
”Borrow books, including e-books and audiobooks,” says Margo Slot. She is the programming, education and
basic skills at the KopGroep Libraries Foundation. "The library is also a good place to study in peace."
and meet friends. There are also IDO (Digital Government Information Point) consultation hours where you can go with
questions about, for example, your DigiD, applying for your student grant or payroll tax.”
To register
Young people who want to become new members can register at the Library Den Helder School 7, Library
