In the mood for a day full of beach, nature, or culture? Then hop on the free Coastal Bus and let yourself be taken along the most beautiful spots between Petten and Den Helder. From July 1 to August 31, 2026, the bus runs along the North Holland coast every day, with stops that invite you to get off, explore, and relax.
On an adventure in Den Helder
If you ride along to station Den Helder, you'll be right in Willemsoord, the maritime heart of the city. Here you can visit the National Rescue Museum or the Navy Museum, where you can literally step aboard impressive ships and submarines.
A tropical getaway
At the Van Galenstraat stop lies a hidden gem: Hortus Overzee. Stroll among tropical plants, admire butterflies in the greenhouse, and find peace in the largest Japanese garden in the Netherlands. Water, bridges, koi carp—it's like traveling around the world.
Sun, sea and sand
Prefer the beach? Hop off at Julianadorp beach and feel the sand beneath your feet. Book a surfing lesson at Surfschool High 5 or simply take a refreshing dip. Here, the coast is pure enjoyment.
The Kustbus takes you everywhere, free, sustainably, and every day. Check the current timetable at www.kustbus.nl.
Temporary change of route
Due to roadworks on the Belkmerweg, the coastal bus will be unable to stop at the Golfzang and Campanula stops starting Monday, August 10. Therefore, the bus will temporarily travel via the N9. Travelers can use the existing bus stop on the Zeeweg, at the intersection with
the Belkmerweg. This ensures that the holiday parks in the area remain easily accessible.
