DEN HELDER – Den Helder honors its top athletes! Every year, the achievements of local top athletes are highlighted during the Sports Gala, an initiative of the Den Helder municipality and Team Sportservice Noordkop. This year's festive event will take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Den Helder Cinema Zevenskoop. Registration for the top athletes is possible through the Team Sportservice Noordkop website.
Municipal Sports Awards: The winners of the municipal sports awards will be announced during the Sports Gala. An expert jury, comprising members of the Sports Federation, the municipality's Den Helder, the Helderse Courant, and Topsport Den Helder, will select the winners for each category from the nominated athletes. The nominees for the municipal sports awards in the categories of male athlete, female athlete, sports talent, sports team, and lifetime achievement award are nominated by people close to them.
Helderse athletes in the spotlight: The Sports Gala provides a platform for Helderse champions who won national and international titles during the past sports season. Both individual and team athletes participate in the renowned Champions Parade, a parade of top athletes celebrating their sporting achievements. All athletes in the Champions Parade achieved podium finishes at a National Championship, European Championship, World Championship, or the Olympic Games. Just like last year, the mayor and alderman for Sports, Fotigui Camara, will present the medals.
Festive Program Once again, the Sports Gala is being organized by Team Sportservice Noordkop, commissioned by the municipality of Den Helder. The evening offers a varied and festive program for all attendees. Dani Bankert of Team Sportservice Noordkop enthusiastically explains the program: “We like to give athletes the stage they deserve. The Den Helder Sports Gala is a wonderful platform for this. We look forward to putting them all in the spotlight again!”
Start, dress code, and questions: A festive evening calls for a fitting dress code. This year, it's "casual chic." Cinema Zevenskoop opens at 7:00 PM. The program ends no later than 9:15 PM. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to chat. Tickets are available free of charge starting January 1st on the Team Sportservice Noordkop website.
