Two weeks ago, the second-year students in the basic/advanced curriculum at Scholen aan Zee gained valuable knowledge at Vonk. Yesterday, it was time to put that knowledge into practice during the Naval Museum's Boat Building Challenge – Den Helder.

’In the morning, the Blue Schools from the primary education sector (Meerwerf Primary Schools Den Helder Jac P. Thijsse, Villa Kakelbont, and Comenius) set a good example. In the afternoon, the boats of the students from Scholen aan Zee were launched.

Den Helder's ambition to become a Blue School Municipality is taking shape thanks to this Boat Building Challenge, which is taking place for the second time this year. The goal of improving ocean literacy among young people is a perfect fit for Den Helder, a city surrounded by the sea on three sides.

More and more schools and organisations are joining this inspiring initiative.
