The mill in Den Helder

Den Helder once had several windmills. Street names such as Molengracht, Molenstraat, and Molensloot still serve as reminders of that time. Thanks to the efforts of the Helderse Windmill Foundation 'De Onderneming', the city has a windmill back: De Goede Verwachting.

Experience the craft up close

Inside the mill, you get an impression of the many windmills that used to stand in Den Helder and Julianadorp.

Visit the windmill 'De Goede Verwachting' this year.‘

Although the mill is not yet completely finished, there is more to see than last year (and hopefully the platform can now also be visited). With enough wind, the mill will turn. Inside the mill itself, you get a good impression of the many mills that once stood in Den Helder and Julianadorp, and the millers are happy to take you through the process of grinding flour.
