Ceremonial march at Willemsoord: naval training celebrates tradition on September 25

Op vrijdag 25 september marcheren de nieuwe lichting adelborsten over Willemsoord in Den Helder. Deze traditionele installatiemars markeert het officiële begin van hun officiersopleiding aan het Koninklijk Instituut voor de Marine (KIM).

A ceremony with meaning

The march is no ordinary procession. It's a symbolic moment in which the upcoming officers take their place in the Royal Netherlands Navy. This young generation presents itself to the public, wearing uniforms, flags, and tributes.

Visible to the public

The march attracts a large audience every year. Come watch the midshipmen move in formation through the maritime heart of Den Helder. A unique opportunity to experience a piece of naval pride up close.

Military heritage in living form

Willemsoord is a fitting location for this ceremony. The historic harbor strengthens the connection between the navy's past and future.

Can I be alone without feeling lonely? When we feel embraced by music, being alone can actually have a healing effect. Neo-Romantic composer-pianist DeLange is known for his melancholic melodies that take you into your memories and emotions and make you feel secure in your own presence. DeLange grew up with the sounds of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Satie, and Debussy, and this is reflected in his compositions. Because DeLange experiences music in colors and forms (a condition called synesthesia), composing is for him like creating works of art: painting colorful landscapes with the melody as the main subject.
