Discover Nieuwe Kerk during the Open Monument Days.

A place of encounter and meaning

The Nieuwe Kerk in Den Helder has been a connecting place in the city since 1838. Originally built for shipyard personnel, the church grew into an important social hub. Here, people came together, shared life, and cared for one another.

A past that still inspires

The church carries a rich past. Young and old find recognition and touching stories there. By looking together at what was, living in the moment, and looking hopefully ahead, the church remains of value today.

Come and see and experience the connection

During Open Monument Day, you are welcome to visit the church. Discover how the building continues to connect people – in the past and present. The doors are open to anyone who wants to look around or pause for a moment.

There is an exhibition Art in the Church: Water & Exhibition 70 Years of Photo Club Den Helder and an ongoing exhibition about the history of the monument.
