The band was founded by schoolmates and began touring in Ireland in 1998. In 2008, they chose the name 'The Kilkennys', named after their beloved hometown of Kilkenny. Over the years, the group has continued to grow. Today, the core consists of Davey Cashin (vocals, mandolin, banjo, guitar, whistles), Tommy Mackey (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), and Mick Martin (bodhrán, uilleann pipes, low whistles, guitar, vocals). From 2024 onwards, it will be an even greater treat with the addition of Davey Long and Jason Turk, who take The Kilkennys' music to an even higher level.
