Economic engine with personal service

Den Helder Airport

With 450 jobs across 30 companies, Den Helder Airport is an economic hub for the region. It's essentially a miniature version of Schiphol. Everything is here: customs, military police, X-ray scanners, and passport control. Yet, the airport offers something extra: every helicopter passenger receives a survival suit and life jacket for safe flights to offshore platforms.

Military and civilian

Two parts, one airport

The airport, often called "De Kooy," consists of two parts. The military part, Maritime Air Base "De Kooy," is used by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The civilian part, Den Helder Airport, serves the offshore industry with five helicopter operators and flights to oil and gas platforms in the North Sea. This creates significant employment in the region.

Offshore flights for 55 years

Den Helder Airport has over 55 years of experience with offshore flights and meets the strictest security requirements to protect vital infrastructure. With 75,000 passengers annually on approximately 13,000 flights, flights to wind farms are also becoming increasingly popular. Innovations such as large drones are also planned, making the airport future-proof.
