Lichtschip Texel: maritiem erfgoed in de Museumhaven

Step aboard a uniquely restored lightship at Willemsoord

Lightship Texel No. 10 is a unique sight in the harbor of Den Helder. This restored ship has been attracting visitors to Museumhaven Willemsoord since 1996.

Forty years at sea

Launched in 1951, the ship served as a beacon on the Dutch coast for four decades. Now it lies just a stone's throw from the original shipyard where it was built.

Maritime heritage lovingly restored

Volunteers from the History of Coastal Lighting Foundation restored the ship to its original state. Their dedication makes it a tangible and living piece of history.

Tour of the entire ship

From April 1st to October 31st, the ship is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Prefer a guided tour? Then join the tour at 1:45 PM or 3:00 PM. You'll also visit the engine room, which is normally closed. A guide will tell you everything you want to know. Reservations can be made by calling +31 6 1561 3128. The cost is €6.50 for adults and €5.00 for children aged 4 to 12. Outside of season, visits are possible by appointment: perfect for a family or group of friends.
