Museumhaven Willemsoord

Historic ships, maritime crafts and nautical heritage in the harbour

Museumhaven Willemsoord is the vibrant heart of maritime heritage in Den Helder. Dozens of historic ships are moored here, each with its own story.

Heritage that keeps floating

From seagoing tugs to lightships: the collection is growing and vibrant. Volunteers and craftspeople ensure the preservation of these sailing monuments. Ships are restored to their original condition where necessary.

More than just a place to lie down

The harbor also serves as a workshop. With docks, slipways, and workspaces, Willemsoord offers everything needed to keep nautical monuments in top condition. Visitors thus gain a unique glimpse into traditional craftsmanship.

Always something to see

You can freely stroll along the quay and admire the ships. There are regular demonstrations and boat tours. Check the website for current activities or special events.
