Southeast of Den Helder lies the beautiful Wadden Sea World Heritage nature reserve. The Balgzand forms the western part of the Wadden Sea. This area is crucial for migratory birds and fish. To introduce as many people as possible to this beautiful area, excursions are organized by the Wadden Association from the Balgzand Nature Information Centre "'t Kuitje.".
We introduce visitors to lugworms, ragworms, barnacles, mud snails, hermit crabs, and crabs. Discover the difference between a male and a female crab! A wonderful world of the Wadden Sea opens up under the microscope, and various fish species swim in the aquariums, which can be fed after an excursion. In the touch tank, visitors can touch a fish or hold a crab. Check 't Kuitje's schedule for opening hours. There are also various excursions you can take.
