Southeast of Den Helder lies the beautiful Wadden Sea World Heritage nature reserve. The Balgzand forms the western part of the Wadden Sea. This area is crucial for migratory birds and fish. To introduce as many people as possible to this beautiful area, the Wadden Association organizes mudflat excursions from the Balgzand Nature Information Centre "'t Kuitje." We introduce visitors to lugworms, ragworms, barnacles, mudflat snails, hermit crabs, and crabs. Discover the difference between a male and a female crab!
