Hortus Overzee

A tropical paradise and Japanese garden, right in the heart of Den Helder!

Stroll through tropical greenhouses, past orange trees and koi carp. Hortus Overzee is a green oasis in the center of Den Helder.

Japanese garden full of tranquility

The largest Japanese garden in the Netherlands is right here in the city. With flowing water, stone bridges, and turtles, it's a place to relax. This garden was designed by experts from Kyoto.

Botanical world tour

In the tropical greenhouse, you'll find plants from all over the world: palms, orchids, agaves, and more. The cacti and potted plants are also impressive. Keep an eye out for the butterflies in the butterfly house!

More than just a garden

Hortus Overzee is also a charming location for weddings, high teas, and photoshoots. A special place for a special moment.
