Bright Light: A city that shines in the dark

Be surprised by the magic of light art in Den Helder. Every autumn the city transforms into an open-air gallery during Bright Light – a light festival that connects art, heritage and maritime identity in an enchanting way.

Stroll past illuminated ships in the Museum Harbor, experience video mappings on historic buildings, and get lost in a kaleidoscopic city park. From interactive installations to intimate word projections: here you'll experience light like nowhere else.

Light art that touches

What once began with a single light object has grown into a comprehensive and impressive art route. Renowned national and international artists create special lighting projects for Den Helder every year that inspire reflection, wonder, and connection. Think of themes like "Departure and Return," "Together Again," and urban renewal.

More than just art

Bright Light is more than just looking. Take a guided tour, participate in a photo walk, Or learn night photography during a workshop. The festival features surprising acts, live music, and much more.
