At the NS stations in Schagen and Den Helder, and at the TESO terminal in Den Helder, travelers can now more easily see which boarding and transfer options are available, for example, to (shared) bicycles, cars, buses, and trains. On September 13, 2024, Aldermen Hans Heddes (municipality of Schagen) and Mark Versteeg (municipality of Hollands Kroon), in the presence of Provincial Executive Member Jeroen Olthof (province of North Holland) and the ferry service TESO, unveiled three new information kiosks for the 'Mobipunt Hubs'.
By installing hub information kiosks, the Mobipunt Hubs are joining the provincial and national network of mobility hubs. A Mobipunt Hub is a point of entry or transfer, on or near public transport, to shared mobility options such as shared bicycles, scooters, and car-sharing. Those traveling by public or shared transport can easily reach their destination using the national network of mobility hubs. Alderman Hans Heddes emphasized the importance of good accessibility for the municipality of Schagen. "With the new information kiosks at the Mobipunt Hubs, we encourage the use of public transport and make switching modes of transport easier for everyone. I think today is a good time to reflect on this," said Alderman Hans Heddes (municipality of Schagen). Alderman Mark Versteeg (municipality of Hollands Kroon) stated that the new corporate identity of the Mobipunt Hubs contributes to good visibility. "That ensures better use, and I'm happy about that! Because that's necessary; the use of shared transport is well underway, but there's still room for improvement."“
The direct reason for installing the new Mobipunt information kiosks is the national agreements on the appearance and design of mobility hubs. With the new information kiosks, the Mobipunt Hubs comply with the new national (CROW) guidelines. This means that whether travelers are looking for a shared bike or car in the Kop van Noord-Holland or in Zeeland, it will be indicated in the same way everywhere. Provincial Executive Jeroen Olthof: "In Noord-Holland, we are working on a network of mobility hubs throughout the province, from local residents to the various cities and regions. We outlined this in the Hub Strategy Noord-Holland. With the transformation of Mobipunt Hubs at these stations, this is now visible in the Kop. And that's an important step." With these new information kiosks, the Mobipunt Hubs now have the same, recognizable appearance as the mobility hubs elsewhere in the country. And Mobipunten is demonstrating this not only on the street. The Mobipunten website will be given a new name and a new look. Growth through collaboration. The existing Mobipunten at larger public transport hubs, such as train stations and bus terminals, are already showing good usage. And this new design will give them a new impetus. However, Mobipunten also noticed that usage figures at several Mobipunten were too low and there was little prospect of growth. These points will be discontinued. In collaboration with neighborhood and village councils, Mobipunten will explore new opportunities. A business approach will also be introduced through larger companies and institutions, and partnerships will be established with regional public transport providers. In this way, Mobipunten expects to better meet demand and expand its offerings. The quality and reliability of the shared transport services will be continuously monitored and improved. About Mobipunten bv. Mobipunten BV was founded in 2021 to improve the quality of life and accessibility in the Kop van Noord-Holland region. The company is committed to promoting more environmentally friendly travel and making the transition between different modes of transport as easy as possible.
