Last weekend, Open Monument Day attracted a record number of visitors to our beautiful historical heritage. With almost 5,800 visits, the previous record from 2021 was easily surpassed!

This year's theme, "Heritage of Routes, Networks, and Connections," sparked unique collaborations between monuments and cultural institutions. Visitors enjoyed performances at the Texel Lightship, exhibitions at the Willem Frederik Karel Freemason's Lodge, and an exhibition by the Molenstichting (Mill Foundation) in a church.

Thanks to the glorious weather and the fantastic historical tour, there was a steady stream of visitors to the monuments, including HNLMS Bonaire at Willemsoord.

We are already looking forward to next year, on September 13 and 14, 2025!
