Willemsoord Shipyard Foundation (Medemblikkerloods)
Originally built in 1833, the Medemblikkerloods served as a drying place for wood that had previously been processed in the Mastenloods. Skilled carpenters from Medemblik were called upon to work at the Willemsoord Royal Shipyard, and their craftsmanship brought the shed to life, hence the name. In the 1980s, the original timber shed was in such poor condition that it was demolished in 1983.
In 2003, the Medemblikkerloods was rebuilt, faithful to the original design. Since then, the shed has played an important role in the preservation and maintenance of botters, barges, sloops, and spars. All of this contributes to the preservation of the vessels in Museum Harbour Willemsoord.
