Bibliotheek Den Helder, School 7

Awarded the best library in the Netherlands, the living room of the city.

Stop by School 7 and discover why it's so popular. Here you can read a book, take a course, enjoy a coffee, or work in peace. It's not your average library, but an inspiring meeting place for young and old.

Meet, learn and relax

At the Reading Café, grab a magazine or order a delicious cappuccino. Attend a lecture, see a performance in the theater, or join a course at the Open University. There are play areas for children and study spaces for students.

Award-winning and special building

School 7 is housed in a historic school building dating back to 1905. The renovation is a story in itself: cozy reading nooks in old restrooms, a grandstand staircase, and an exposed wooden roof structure. It was named the Best Library in the Netherlands in 2017. A year later, it was even named the Best Library in the World.

Always welcome

Everyone is welcome, even without a membership. Find a quiet spot, browse a book, or simply unwind. You can even get married here. The Helderse Historical Society is also based here.
