Discover three World War II air raid shelters at Willemsoord. A guide will take you around the former naval shipyard complex.

Step into hidden history

Approximately 25 air raid shelters once stood at Willemsoord. Most of the bunkers were demolished after the war. Three remaining bunkers are now accessible to the public. In one bunker, German texts can still be seen on the walls.

The lock gate ramp is also covered during the tour. During bombardments, people took shelter under the reserve gates. The tour starts at the commemorative plaque on building 47. This plaque stands next to the main entrance of Willemsoord.
