On the Vinkenterrein hasHousing association Den Helder/Clear Real Estate The Molenwerf project has been realized, comprising 34 homes that complement the houses in the adjacent Janzenstraat and the homes along the Fabrieksgracht. The historic sawmill that once stood here has been rebuilt, making the small residential area particularly special. The name Molenwerf refers to that mill and the timber yard that was once located there.
18 rental homes have been realized in the project. All homes have now been rented out.
And there are 16 new spacious homes for sale, all of which are now occupied.

One of the eye-catchers of the Molenwerf plan is, as the name suggests, the De Goede Verwachting sawmill. That is to say: it will be a sawmill only in name, as it will not actually saw wood. If only to avoid causing noise pollution. However, a model inside the mill will demonstrate how mechanical sawing was done in the past. In addition, there will be an exhibition space where the Helderse Windmill Foundation intends to showcase all aspects of wind energy and also pay attention to the utility of windmills for Den Helder. The mill will have an educational hub where tourists, schoolchildren, and others will be extensively informed about the past, present, and future of clean (wind) energy. There will also be a mill shop.
The mill was built entirely from scratch by Remco Jonker. In Westzaan, the carpenter is busy building the De Goede Verwachting mill. Remco works magic with wood. Because of his artisanal way of building, you would think it is historical heritage.

The project has been fully completed.
