Six days of walking from Hoek van Holland to Den Helder

From Monday, July 27 to Saturday, August 1, 2026, you can participate in the Strand6Daagse: a unique walking and camping experience along the Dutch coast. You will walk along vast sandy beaches for six consecutive days, enjoy the sea and dunes, and experience an active holiday like never before.

145 kilometers of walking along water and sand

The route runs from Hoek van Holland to Den Helder and totals approximately 140 km, divided into six stages of approx. 33, 18, 31, 24, 27, and 14 km. Along the way, you will sleep in your own tent at campsites provided by the organization in cooperation with local associations.

Everything is well arranged, you walk alone

You do not have to carry your own luggage: the organization transports it to the next campsite every morning. A hot meal is served daily, and packed breakfasts, lunches, coffee, tea, and fruit are provided. This allows you to focus fully on hiking and enjoying the experience.

Route/times

The start in Hoek van Holland is on Monday morning between 07:15 and 10:00. Arrival at Den Helder is on Saturday from 11:00 to 15:00 at the Village Hall in Huisduinen. The intermediate stopping points are: Wassenaar, Noordwijk, IJmuiden, Egmond aan Zee, and Callantsoog.

Finish in Den Helder

On Saturday, August 1, the tour concludes with a festive celebration at Den Helder, at the Village Hall in Huisduinen. Every participant will receive a warm welcome there. This tour combines nature, a sporting challenge, and conviviality into one dream week by the sea.

Guided tour
Would you like to join a tour of this magnificent fort? The "Fort op de Harssens," unknown to many, was built as an armored fort by the Dutch between 1880 and 1886, then and now part of Stelling Den Helder (Fortress Den Helder). What will you experience? An authentic fort (without furnishings, etc.) where time seems to have stood still. The atmosphere of 1900 is still palpable.
