New layout of Koningstraat started

Work has started on Koningstraat, between Oostslootstraat and Spoorstraat. The street is being redesigned, and the sewage system is being replaced at the same time. The work is being carried out in three phases to ensure the neighborhood remains accessible and disruption is kept to a minimum. Upon completion, the street will be safer and more pleasant.

What is changing?

  • There will be a sidewalk on both sides of the street.
  • A parking strip is being constructed on one side.
  • In the northern section, the roadway will be temporarily repaved using the existing paving stones. This prevents damage caused by construction traffic for future housing development.
  • Koningstraat remains one-way traffic:
    • In the northern part, traffic flows from north to south.
    • In the southern part, traffic remains from south to north, as it is now.

Planning and accessibility

The work started at the end of February and will last approximately eight months. The work is being carried out in three phases. Within each phase, a maximum of 80 meters of the street is closed off so that emergency services can always pass through. Walkways are being installed for pedestrians so that homes and shops remain accessible. The work is being carried out by Gebr. Min BV from Egmond aan den Hoef. Work is carried out on working days between 07:00 and 16:00.

Phase classification

  • Phase 2a: Oostslootstraat – intersection Koningdwarsstraat
  • Phase 2b: Koningdwarsstraat 45 – intersection
  • Phase 2c: Koningdwarsstraat – Spoorstraat

The Kroonpassage is being redeveloped. Part of the Kroonpassage will remain but is being renovated to accommodate a new supermarket and retail space. The remaining part of the Kroonpassage will be demolished to make room for a new square. In addition to creating a pleasant environment, parking is being improved, and the design of the square takes the changing climate into account.
Construction of the Admiraal is in full swing! In this final section of Halter Bellevue, 54 homes (12 for sale and 42 for rent) and a 450 m² McDonald's are being realized.
The area around the Ruyghweg and Spoorweghaven offers ample opportunities to develop into an attractive residential area, with a focus on strengthening the historic Defence Line between Fort Westoever and Fort Dirksz Admiraal – a valuable addition to the surroundings.
