In Den Helder, atop the Zeedijk and perpendicular to the coastline, the Seasaw rises: a gigantic, walkable symbol of infinity made of 3D-printed sustainable material. The Seasaw moves with the tides and connects the sea and the city: it is visible from afar whether it is high or low tide. The Seasaw is a 70-meter-long landmark of great beauty and quality, with great appeal.
Strengthening the connection between city and sea. That is the intention of the Seasaw. Anyone standing on the Seasaw will soon be able to see both Den Helder and the water. The installation respects the existing dike, while residents and visitors can view the city and the sea from a completely new perspective. The undulating path activates the coastline and invites people to climb the dike and take a look at the other side.
Zeestad is the client and is in charge of project management. The Seasaw is technically feasible. It is still being investigated how this icon can be made financially possible.
