A new piece of Den Helder in development

The area around the Ruyghweg and Railway Harbour offers ample opportunities to develop into an attractive residential area that blends in nicely with the existing neighborhood City within the Line. In addition, attention is also paid to strengthening the historic Defence Line between Fort Westoever and Fort Dirksz Admiral – a valuable addition to the area.

It ZUS transformation framework The plan from September 2021 forms the basis. The boundaries of the planning area have since been expanded to include the Bassingracht, the sports field next to the athletics track, and the HVC site, among others. This creates a better connection with the historic Defence Line and the canal belt, and ensures the area will soon connect even better with the surrounding residential areas.

Sea city Commissioned by the municipality, Den Helder has investigated whether this area development is feasible. The goal? A clear development strategy for Sportpark Ruyghweg and a development strategy for Spoorweghaven and Surroundings. The municipal council decided positively on this matter on October 6.

The Kroonpassage is being redeveloped. Part of the Kroonpassage will remain but is being renovated to accommodate a new supermarket and retail space. The remaining part of the Kroonpassage will be demolished to make room for a new square. In addition to creating a pleasant environment, parking is being improved, and the design of the square takes the changing climate into account. 
Construction of the Admiraal is in full swing! In this final section of Halter Bellevue, 54 homes (12 for sale and 42 for rent) and a 450 m² McDonald's are being realized.
Zeestad has started the renovation of Koningstraat, from Oostslootstraat to Spoorstraat. During these works, the sewage system is also being renewed. The project is being carried out in phases so that the neighborhood remains accessible and disruption is kept to a minimum.
